Just like any other health condition, what you eat is crucial for the healing process. Foods that can affect your hormones and cause inflammation make endo symptoms worse and can even increase your chances of developing this condition. Several studies have shown that endo symptoms significantly improved with a low-fodmap diet.

what is the fodmap diet?

fodmap: fermentable oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides and polyols

Confused yet? Let’s break this down. These are basically different classifications of carbs that are known to cause bloating, pain and cramping. The reason they cause bloating is because they do not absorb well in the small intestine and therefore absorb water and stick to the colon. Common fodmaps are fructose, lactose, fructans (found in grains), galactans (found in legumes) and polyols which are sugar alcohols.

what’s on the low-fodmap diet?

In a nutshell, you want to avoid the common fodmaps mentioned before but you want to aim for foods that won’t cause bloating and discomfort such as veggies, fruits and low dairy/meat intake. Click the link below to get the full diet plan!
