Confused yet? Let’s break this down. These are basically different classifications of carbs that are known to cause bloating, pain and cramping. The reason they cause bloating is because they do not absorb well in the small intestine and therefore absorb water and stick to the colon. Common fodmaps are fructose, lactose, fructans (found in grains), galactans (found in legumes) and polyols which are sugar alcohols.
what’s on the low-fodmap diet?
