The rainbow of discharge

Ladies, we all have it. Know what’s normal & what’s not

Clear as day (or white)

this is your vagina cleaning itself out and getting rid of dead cells. Usually thicker during ovulation because that’s when ovaries release an egg. If you’re pregnant and notice more discharge, that’s to be expected. And yes a slight odor or even an odor that smells like yogurt is normal!

Yellow not so mellow

here’s the thing about yellow that gets a little tricky: healthy discharge might leave a yellowish tint on your underwear. But if that shit is super thick and yellow and has a foul fishy odor you may have an STD or an infection.

Grinch Green

get that shit checked out ASAP. It can be anything from an STD or an overgrowth of bacteria. It also may have a fish like odor.

Brownish reddish like rust

normal right before and right after your period. Brown discharge can also be known as implantation bleeding if you’re pregnant which is normal. If you’re experiencing brown discharge often, it might be time to see your gyno to make sure you don’t have PID, PCOS, or cervical cancer

Extra chunky cottage cheese

this is typically a sign of a yeast infection. Symptoms also include redness, itchiness and burning.

Grayish and or frothy like the milk in your cappuccino

this is usually the main symptom of bacterial vaginosis. Grey discharge can also be a sign of an STD or excess bacteria.

To combat excessive amounts of discharge consider changing the type of underwear you wear. Thongs= discharge/bacteria galore. They are what keep gynos in business. Go for soft, cotton panties instead! And remember, if something looks/feels/smells sus, go to your gyno ASAP!
